How do I and other people handwrite?

My Handwriting

• my day-to-day handwriting is print writing with some connections
• this is similar to Grundschrift taught in some German schools
• I learned VA as cursive
• used that until some point in Gymnasium where I switched back to print writing
• was a concious decision: other people also wrote in print again, and it seemed the more “grown up” variant
• after someone said to me “you still write cursive? ew” I then switched

Other People

• I talked with friends about how they write and looked at handwriting of other people
• everyone so far used a print-cursive hybrid: it’s mostly print letters, but with some connections between the letters
• similar to me
• including my mother, so it’s not just a recent phenomenon
• although I think her script was more connected than those of my friends
